LC2-style Petit or LC3-style Grand: compare the actual proportions
The Petit and Grand names refer to two different expressions of the exposed-frame seating idea. Petit emphasizes a compact outline; Grand gives the cushions and seat a broader presence. Madorne’s versions have their own measurements, so dimensions of an original LC2 or LC3 are not a substitute for the specifications below.
The Modulor Petit lounge chair is 24.8 inches wide and 24.4 inches deep, with a listed seat height of 15.5 inches. The Modulor Grand lounge chair is 35.8 inches wide and 27.5 inches deep, with a 15.4-inch seat height. That is an 11-inch difference in overall width—not simply a choice between two upholstery treatments.
For a pair of chairs, allow for the space between them and the route around the arrangement. The open metal frame remains visible from the sides and rear, making placement as important as the front view.
Two seats do not always mean the same sofa footprint
The Petit two-seater measures 51.2 inches wide, compared with 66.5 inches for the Grand two-seater. Both are relatively shallow in their listed overall dimensions, but their seat heights differ: 17.3 inches for the Petit sofa and 15.4 inches for the Grand sofa.
Moving to three seats, the Petit three-seater measures 70.5 inches wide; the Grand three-seater measures 83.5 inches. Compare the usable room space and individual seat dimensions before deciding by seat count alone.
Measure access separately from the final position: a sofa that fits along a wall must still pass through doorways, elevator openings and turns. Do not infer that a compact silhouette guarantees easy delivery.
Leather, vegan leather and cowhide are distinct choices
The range includes both animal leather and vegan alternatives. The Petit lounge chair lists Midnight Black Premium Leather and Black/White Cowhide. The Grand lounge chair lists Tan Premium Leather, Cream Vegan Leather, Vintage Black Vegan Leather and Midnight Black Premium Leather.
These option names matter when coordinating a room. Vintage Black Vegan Leather and Midnight Black Premium Leather are not the same material, even though both appear dark. Cowhide is also a distinct surface, not a printed vegan-leather finish. Check the composition and care instructions for the selected version.
The external frame provides the visual continuity across Modulor pieces; upholstery can either reinforce that connection or create a deliberate contrast. For material clarification before purchasing, get expert advice.
A Petit ottoman is not a miniature Grand ottoman
The Petit ottoman measures 20.9 × 20.9 × 19.7 inches and currently lists Tan Premium Leather. The Grand ottoman measures 22.8 × 28.3 × 16.9 inches and lists Midnight Black Premium Leather. Their heights and depths create different relationships to a chair.
They are separate purchases. Choose the footrest by its height, footprint and exact upholstery—not just the shared Modulor name. In the current selection, Midnight Black Premium Leather is a shared option for the Grand lounge chair and Grand ottoman. The Petit ottoman’s tan finish does not appear among the Petit lounge chair’s listed options.
Atelier: a glass dining table, not a lounge table
The Atelier 28 dining table references the LC6 Table Tube d’Avion design. Its 0.59-inch tempered-glass top leaves the tubular support visible. White and Black refer to the frame finish; both listed options have a glass top.
At 88.5 inches wide, 33.46 inches deep and 30.3 inches high, Atelier belongs in a dining-height arrangement. Pair it with dining chairs, not the low Modulor lounge chairs. Check chair width, support positions and pull-out space rather than assuming a fixed seating capacity.
Questions about Le Corbusier–inspired furniture
Who designed the furniture referenced here?
The LC2, LC3 and LC6 references are associated with Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. Naming only Le Corbusier would omit the collaboration relevant to these pieces.
Are these original or authorized editions?
No. These are independently offered Madorne interpretations, not original designer pieces or authorized editions. Reference names describe the design inspiration and do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
Which Modulor sofa has the narrower footprint?
Among the two-seaters listed here, Petit is narrower at 51.2 inches versus 66.5 inches for Grand. Compare seat dimensions and access requirements as well as overall width.
