Bar stools versus counter stools
Bar and counter seating are designed for different surface heights. Measure from the floor to the underside of your surface and compare it with the selected stool’s seat height. A product name alone is not enough to establish comfortable clearance.
Choosing stool seat height and spacing
Leave usable knee room beneath the counter and enough width between seats. Check the widest point of each stool, including arms, and the position of the footrest. Compare the exact height variant before adding a stool to your order.
Wooden and upholstered stools
Wooden frames and upholstered seats offer different textures and care needs. Compare materials on each product, including the seat and frame separately. If you want a backless, swivel or adjustable stool, confirm the feature on the selected model.
Planning more than one stool
Measure the full usable counter length, including supports and nearby doors. Buying matching stools does not remove the need for space between them; leave room to get on and off each seat.
