Modern table lamps for living rooms

A table lamp adds a point of light to a side table, console or shelf while becoming part of the room's furniture arrangement. Choose a glass globe for a rounded silhouette, a metal dome for a defined shape, or a colored lamp to introduce an accent. This collection brings together different heights and footprints, so compare the complete dimensions with the surface you plan to use.

Bedside table lamps and nightstand lighting

Start with the space beside your bed. A nightstand lamp should leave room for the items you use every evening, with its shade clear of the wall and its switch within comfortable reach. Consider the height of your mattress and how the shade sits in your line of sight when seated. A lamp that works on a tall console may feel too large on a narrow bedside table.

For a pair of bedside table lamps, match the selected finish and dimensions on both sides. Products are sold as individual listings unless a product page states otherwise; a photograph of a pair does not establish that two lamps are included.

Small table lamps: compare height and footprint

Bell 18 measures 8.2 inches high and 4.9 inches wide and deep, making it one of the smaller options in this selection. Nessa 67 is also low at 8.77 inches, but its 12.6-inch width occupies more surface space. Hopper Mini has a narrower 5.9-inch width and depth with a taller 16.1-inch profile. Measure both the base area and the widest part of the lamp before choosing a small table lamp.

Glass, wood and metal table lamps

The Balance 14 table lamp range pairs glass shades with metal supports in several proportions. Compare the High, Low and T2 versions by their actual dimensions rather than treating them as interchangeable. Ciera combines a solid wood frame with frosted glass, while Aruma pairs powder-coated iron with a polished marble base.

For a stronger geometric outline, Atola 77 combines a cylinder, cone and broad metal dome. Bloom 68 balances two facing domes on a slender stem. Cilla offers a white steel finish, and Nessa 67 adds orange acrylic. These differences help you choose a lamp that complements the textures and colors already in your room.

Choosing a table lamp for a desk or console

For a desk, consider where the shade places light relative to your work and whether the bulb is directly visible from your chair. Milo 53 has a directional shade profile, but a shaped or angled shade does not automatically mean its position is adjustable. Check the specific model if you need a movable arm or shade.

On a console, compare the lamp's height with nearby objects and keep enough room for its full shade width. For lighting at other heights, explore our floor lamps and ceiling lights. A table lamp can complement those sources without needing to illuminate the whole room on its own.

Table lamp questions

Do all table lamps use the same bulb?

No. The collection includes E26 and E12 fittings as well as models listed with LED lighting. For example, Nessa 67 and Milo 53 Tripod specify E12, while Ciera specifies E26. Check the selected product's fitting, voltage, maximum rating and bulb inclusion before ordering.

Are these table lamps cordless or rechargeable?

Do not assume battery operation from a compact shape or a carrying handle. Check the product's power details; the descriptions in this selection do not establish a rechargeable or cordless feature.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?

A dimmable bulb alone does not confirm that the lamp and its controls support dimming. Verify compatibility for the particular lamp, bulb and control before using a dimmer.

What size table lamp should I choose?

Measure the usable surface and compare the lamp's overall width, depth and height. Leave room for everyday items and the cord, then consider the shade's position from your usual sitting or lying position.
