Niels Otto Møller–Inspired Dining Chairs

Flowing wood frames, open backs and carefully defined seats give Madorne’s Niels Otto Møller–inspired dining chairs a restrained presence around the table. This selection focuses on three chair listings rather than a broad catalogue of unrelated Danish furniture.

Compare the No. 77 side chair, the armed No. 77A and Moller 78A. The choice starts with arms, width and table clearance, then moves to the exact wood finish and seat surface. Woven and upholstered options should be checked on the selected page rather than assumed across every chair.

For a repeated dining arrangement, measure the positions between table legs as well as the overall tabletop. A coordinated finish only works when the chairs have the space they need.

Møller-inspired dining chairs: curved wood and open seats

This selection interprets a Danish dining-chair language through shaped wooden rails and relatively open construction. The useful differences are practical as well as visual: an armed chair changes the width of a place setting, while a woven seat and an upholstered option introduce different surfaces.

Begin with the actual Madorne chair format. Model references provide context, but they do not establish the measurements or materials of the versions sold here.

No. 77 side chair or No. 77A armchair

The No. 77 side chair is listed at 19.7 inches wide and deep, with a 17.9-inch seat height. Its options include Walnut and Black Vegan Leather, Walnut, and Black Paper Cord. Check the chosen version rather than describing all No. 77 chairs as having the same woven seat.

The No. 77A dining armchair has flowing arms and a paper-cord seat on solid ash with a walnut finish. It measures 22 inches wide and 22.4 inches deep. Before placing it at a table end, check the arm clearance against the underside of the table.

Moller 78A dimensions vary between options

The Moller 78A page lists separate dimensions for its Ash and Walnut options. Ash is listed at 19 inches wide by 20.5 inches deep; Walnut at 20.5 inches wide by 19.1 inches deep. Both list a 31.5-inch overall height.

The dimension change means an option is not always just a color choice. Plan a complete set using the selected version’s measurements, particularly if the chairs sit between fixed table legs.

A walnut finish does not prove solid walnut construction

The No. 77A description explicitly identifies solid ash with a walnut finish. That distinction prevents a common assumption: a Walnut finish name does not by itself prove the piece is solid walnut.

Use the material description and chosen option together. A darker finish can coordinate visually with a walnut table without making the two pieces the same wood species. If the species or seat composition matters to your purchase, ask before ordering.

Questions before building a dining-chair set

Can I mix armed and armless chairs? Yes as a layout choice, but verify widths and arm clearance for each position. Do not assume the armchair fits wherever the side chair fits.

Are all three chairs paper-cord models? Read the selected pages: No. 77 has an explicitly listed vegan-leather option, while No. 77A describes a paper-cord seat.

Where should I compare tables? Explore dining tables with the actual chair dimensions in hand, or get expert advice. See other dining chair silhouettes if you need a different width or back profile.

Are these original designer pieces?

No. These are independently offered Madorne interpretations, not original designer pieces or authorized editions. Designer and model names identify the design references, not affiliation or endorsement.
